Swimming Sessions

Swimming is the only sport to be included within the national curriculum physical education programme of study.  All primary schools must provide swimming and water safety lessons in either Key Stage 1 or 2.

By the end of primary school, all children should be able to swim 25 metres unaided and use a range of strokes effectively.

Water safety is a vital life skill, which is why it is a mandatory part of the curriculum for PE at primary school.

At Hollyfast, swimming lessons start in the Autumn term for the Year 3 children and Spring term for the Year 4 children.

The children go swimming every day for two weeks.  If children cannot swim the 25 metres by the end of Year 4, we provide top-up swimming sessions in Year 6.
